Description
During the duration of this project there were a series of tasks to be
completed. The project began with the demolition of (2) 60' x 20'
concrete encased steel beam doghouses on the 2nd fl oor roof of the
courthouse. The complexity of this portion was that the roof was
surrounded by seven stories of building and a large 350 ton crane with
an extended jib lift was needed to remove the materials from the roof.
As a part of this project we had to do extensive shoring and crane
rigging to safely remove all components of the doghouses. To
complete this project we needed to remove the doghouses while still
keeping the building weatherproof. This was a daunting task and took
extensive pre-planning and extreme coordination to ensure the
buildings safety. This portion was completed by installing the new steel
and beams and decking while keeping the doghouses in-tact. This
work also included asbestos abatement of ductwork insulation and
drywall joint compound as well as lead remediation of the old louvers
and windows within the doghouses. Once the doghouses were
removed, we installed 12" of insulation, new roof drains and a new
roof membrane over the entire roof.
